I want to pay a congenital glaucoma surgery for my brother!

Nice to meet you! My name is Claudia, and I'm from Cotonou, Benin!

My brother is suffering congenital glaucoma in one eye, and I would like him to get the surgery he needs!

He already lost his right eye

My brother is 19 years old. He has this congenital disease since born.

When he was a little baby he received surgery in Spain, but it didn't work. Since then, his eye has been getting worse and finally he can't use it anymore.

The problem is that his left eye is being affected too!

He barely can see so he had to quit school because he couldn't be able to study anymore.

He needs two kind of treatment

The doctor said to us that my brother needs two different treatment to heal.

First one is surgery to remove the right eye and replace it with an implant. The second one is to get special glasses to fix the problem on the right eye.

With this treatment my brother could keep his left eye!

We can't pay for the treatment

My family was okay a few years ago but currently our economy is pretty damaged.

My dad has retired so our monthly income is reduced. In the past we could be able to pay this treatment but not now.

My mum is working as stylist. She is doing what she can, but it's not enough to pay the surgery.

I'm also working and supporting my family, but I just saved $200. I would need another 2 years to save all the money we need and by then my brother might lose his left eye too.

Details on needed funds

To pay for both treatments we need $950. I already saved $200, so only $750 is left.

Schedule

If I can get enough funds I will pay for the surgery of my brother as soon as possible. We will go to a hospital in our own city (as going to another place would be very expensive).

I would like him to start receiving his treatment in January of next year.
