Help us build orchards of victory in El Remate GT

Hello

We are Rosario Figueroa or Ross as my friends call me and Javier Aldana we are from Guatemala City in Central America, for a few years we have lived in a Village called El Remate, in the municipality of Flores and the Department of Peten, which its main economic activity is tourism.

The Tree

Javier and I managed El Arbol, a beautiful restaurant in the center of the village, this was designed to receive organized groups of tourists, mostly foreigners, in the place we had the direct support of 5 people from the community, We indirectly try to support the local economy, buying the majority of inputs from merchants and farmers in the area.

With the covid-19 the economy of large and small has been affected, including ourselves, we have had to close! There are no more tourists and there is no economic income not only for us but also for our collaborators, their families and many homes in the Village.

The permaculture project

Due to the above, the permaculture project was born to promote the self-sustainability of families, currently we work in our own land spaces in which members of two families collaborate in exchange for obtaining vegetables, grains and fruits from the harvest. We want to promote home gardens, garbage sorting and the exchange of food between community members.

Help us buy garden tools

For this we need to acquire tools to work the land and items such as mesh, nails and wood, seeds, make our own fertilizers and herbicides. The proceeds will be used to build these gardens.
