Help repair a community borehole and purchase a water tank.

Hello my name is sentongo Collins and am a social and community worker.  I live in Misindye village in Goma division mukono district Uganda. Growing up in this village we have always  had a problem of water shortage and unsafe water. We used to move long distances to collect water not to mention the long lines we would find at the only safe water source available that it would take us on average about 3 hours to collect a 20 litres jerrycan of water.

Other times we would fail completely to get water due to the large number of people struggling to get water and so we would resort to collecting water at a nearby open pond not to return home empty handed least we would risk spanking from mama. I personally used to dread this a lot.

This was the norm in my village until about 10 years ago when a borehole was set up in my village through the local government.  The whole village went into a craze as a solution had finally been found to our biggest problem, this borehole  changed our lives but soon it was overwhelmed by the number of users and it's maintainance was too expensive for the community members to maintain. As a speak now it has been lying idle for the last three years and we have gone back to the old ways of struggling for water not to mention the dangers that come with overcrowding due to the pandemic as people gather to collect water from only other available water source. Thieves are also threatening to vandalise the borehole, my prayer is that we can receive help before this occurs and am appealing to you who is reading this to help in any way you can however small or big.

We intend to use the money to repair the borehole, build a chain link around it to prevent thieves from vandalising its parts and also purchase a community tank of 10,000 litres which we shall use to  collect water into at night when the borehole is not very busy and that water can be taken by the residents especially children and pregnant mother's to reduce on overcrowding at the source during the day hence reducing on the risk of spreading  the virus. This borehole would also guarantee safe clean water which is a very high prerequisite in the fight against COVID 19. This funding is therefore needed as soon as possible due to the urgency of the issue
