Let's bring smiles to the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica

Hello everyone,

The Osa Peninsula is located in the south of Costa Rica. This area has approximately 2% of the richness of the world's biodiversity, according to National Geographic.

Therefore, one of the most important employment-generating activities in this region is tourism.

11% are people with disabilities

Approximately fourteen thousand people live in this area, of which 11% are people with disabilities.

This population has historically been subject to discrimination in all senses, which has affected both adults with disabilities and families with children and adolescents with disabilities, significantly affecting their socio economic conditions.

This situation worsens in rural and maritime areas with territories that have different reliefs.

Despite national and international laws that have made progress mostly in central cities, there is much room for improvement to change these conditions of scarcity among this important group of society.

We created this initiative with the intention of supporting 50 families with extreme poverty conditions in the month of December with a gift for the children and a basket of food for the family

To all this situation, the COVID 19 PANDEMIC is added this year, government aid is given only once to each family and people who had some formal and informal work through tourism and other areas that has been affected.

The Ebenezer Jireh Association for a More Inclusive Society, holds a Christmas party every year for several of these families, which due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent economic pandemic, will not take place this year. Consequently, we created this initiative with the intention of supporting 50 families with extreme poverty conditions in the month of December with a gift for the children and a food basket for the family.
