Finding the Strength to Keep On

Hello everyone,

( I am submitting this in behalf of my sis-in-law)

I am Melissa, the wife of 57 year old Greg Matienzo Jr. He has been losing weight for the past 3 years due to stress, challenges and heartache brought by caring for his mom. Greg’s mother passed away last Feb 26, 2020 due to pneumonia. This was before the Covid-19 pandemic started here in Manila, Philippines.

As you can see in the photo below, Greg doesn't look like 57 years old. He certainly lost a lot of weight. His tummy is bloated as a result of the liver not functioning at all.

Greg was diagnosed with end-stage liver cirrhosis

In October of 2020, Greg suddenly vomited blood and was rushed to the hospital. He was later diagnosed with end-stage liver cirrhosis. Doctors have said it is irreversible and only medication can help him get through it.

We, his family are struggling to fulfill all his weekly medication cost of 8,085 PHP. The other option is a costly liver transplant (LT) which ranges from 3 - 5 millions PHP, depending on the hospital where it is available.

We need your support so Greg could undergo liver transplantation

As of this writing, we are still waiting for a willing donor for the liver transplant. Once we have that in place, the next hurdle is the cost of the operation which seem impossible for us to afford, even if we gather all our family’s financial resources together.

Whatever amount collected through this endeavor will greatly help in trying to prolong Greg’s life through medicine or transplant.

My children and I are seeking out that hope from the kindness and generosity of people who can help my husband undergo an Liver Transplant. We continue to pray that God will provide a liver donor and send the right people who will help us with the cost of Greg’s liver transplant.
