To build a permanent residence for the vulnerable children

Hello everyone,

I am Mactilda Makana, the Founder/Director of the Breaking Bread Community Based Organization from Kenya.

Breaking Bread Community Based Organization is an Organization registered under the Ministry of labor and social protection in the Republic of Kenya. The organization is situated in Bungoma county, western province.

The organization is totally dedicated to reaching out to vulnerable children and orphans in Bungoma Kenya. Our program focus is to provide support through education, healthcare, shelter and counselling to these children.

Currently we don’t have a website because we’ve not had funds to register a domain because of the needs at hand. But we are on Facebook as BREAKING BREAD CBO.

We are requesting for financial assistance to address the challenges below:

1. Building: Currently the children stay in a rental apartment and life has become so hard for us to even raise the rent and as per now we are in arrears. The organization urgently needs a permanent home for these children.

2. Educational materials: due to limited funding or no funding, some children who would otherwise be in school have not been able to go to school. Most of them lack educational materials like books, uniforms and stationery.

3. Medical care: some medical cases of these children at the organization are so complicated that they require specialized medical attention that the organization can not offer at the moment. We recently lost two orphans who were both suffering from rheumatic heart disease and were in need of an urgent heart surgery which the organization couldn’t afford. Merlin 14 years passed on in November and Wilson 19 years passed on in December. Currently the organization has Elizabeth Masifwa 15 years old orphan who is also ailing form a heart disease and is need of a heart Surgery but the organization can’t afford.

4. Food: sometimes the organization runs out of funds to buy food for the children as the organization depends on contribution from the members of the board and donations from friends which sometimes is not enough to sustain a steady flow of food supply.

5. Clothing and bedding: as said in number four above, the organization still relies on members for these two necessities and as we speak some of the children are running out of clothes and even bedding. They currently sleep on the floor where they spread their old small mattresses and sleep.
