A CALL FOR ASSISTANCE

Hello Everyone,

My name is Gabrielle, I am 24 years old and an only child from Makati.

In late December 2019, my mother was unexpectedly diagnosed with Cervical Cancer and had to go through immediate treatment and chemotherapy which was finished around the first week of March 2020.

Our small food service business was unable to operate for more than a year

We operate a small food service business, and around the 2nd week of March 2020, the pandemic suddenly hit, we were forced to stop all operations for a year due to a government mandate. Being unable to operate for more than a year, we have lost all of our savings. I work a 10-hour job 5 days a week earning PHP 17,000.00 ($340) a month however, it is not enough to sustain our everyday lives.

Ever since then we have been unable to get back on our feet. Bills have been piling up since the beginning of the pandemic, unable to pay our utilities and rent, we are now in debt about to be kicked out from our home, and even lose our car (which is the only thing we have left).

Everything has taken a toll on Mom physical and mental health

For the past months, Mom has been working all day every day to even earn a little in cooking and selling her food. Everything has taken a toll on her physical and mental health, and I am very afraid that her cancer will come back since unable to take care of herself after receiving treatment.

This March 2021, my mother and I both tested positive for CoronaVirus, which led us to lose more of the remaining little of what we have. I am currently suffering from depression and hair loss/alopecia due to stress. We are still struggling and my mom has been crying every single night for the past month thinking about what is going to happen to us.

Last night was the final straw for me because while having dinner together, she suddenly burst into tears telling me that she wanted to give up and just die because maybe then all of our problems would disappear or go away. I just held her hand tightly and asked her to not give up on me yet.

It has always been the two of us against everything, but now I am humbly asking for your financial assistance to help my mother and me get through this.
