supporting positive living and single teenage mothers

My name is Kajumba Gorret a female journalists, woman women human rights defender and executive director Rwenzori young mothers network [RYOMNET]  which is a community based organization in Uganda operates on the districts at the footsteps of Rwenzori mountain in Mid western Uganda.

This organization was founded by victims and survivors of teenage pregnancy who are young mothers, women and teenage girls.

We wanted to raise our voices as one so as to get support, defend our rights, advocate for education, community sensitization on HIV/AIDS, social and economic empowerment, Hygiene and sanitation, family planning advocacy among teenage mothers and women.

Young mothers in hard to reach and rural areas lack information about health services and family planning methods which needs public sensitization and it has been found out that most teenage mothers are infected with HIV/AIDS and are living in a poverty life where their children can not access basic needs like clothing, shelter, education, medical care, clean and safe water.

I realized that if we can make a fundraising and we collect funds we can be able to support these vulnerable children and their vulnerable single mothers with scholastic materials, clothing, mattresses, pads for girls as parents can not afford them, soap, jelly and empower these single mothers economically and socially through vocational training skills.

As a young organization we need to partner with experienced and developed organization to support us so as to achieve our goals, these members are suffering high levels of poverty to the extent that a family can eat one meal a day, children are suffering.

That amount of money [1450 US DOLLARS] will help us to support these vulnerable children with scholastic materials, provide pads with vulnerable girls, as an organization we did  a research in four of the primary schools in rural areas and we found out that every term three girls dropout of schools due to menstruation related issues.

We need the funds as early as possible because the problem is urgent as now children are in schools and it is better to provide with them those materials for their successful learning and mothers are crying out for help.
