Story
It is an unforgettable evening for residents of Brgy. Suba, Sitio Santo Niño (Cebu City) on February 26 as their homes blazed on fire for two long hours from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. According to reports, at least 259 households have been affected with an estimated PhP 1.5 million in damages.
Evacuation centers in Brgy. Suba and Brgy. Pasil Sports Complex are now housing more than 1,000 evacuees in need of the following until they can get back to their feet and their homes:
• Packed meals (e.g. canned goods, rice, etc.)
• Clothing
• Drinking water
In recent years, Philippines has been a country prone to natural disasters. However, Filipinos are known for their resiliency as everyone tries to rise above all challenges and works together as one community. That is why, it is not a surprise that this attitude and lifestyle can already be seen from the youth in the country. Students from the University of Cebu (Philippine Junior Jaycees, Inc.) has taken the lead to gather resources as much as they can to help fire victims of Brgy. Suba.
Here at Airfunding, we are calling for our global community to help by sending donations for this group of students to be able to provide the needs of evacuees in Cebu.
