Support for the Conservation and Rescue of Wild Fauna affected by COVID-19

Dear all!

I am César Alejandro Lucano, I graduated a Marine Biology degree and I live in the Nuevo Vallarta area, Nayarit, Mexico.

I am in charge of the El Cora Crocodile Sanctuary and together with my team we carry out important environmental conservation tasks.

About El Cora Crocodile Sanctuary

El Cora Crocodile Sanctuary is an organization dedicated to conservation through various tools, ecotourism, environmental education, wildlife rescue and support for research projects.

The project is 100% supported by our visitors, as we offer a guided tour of our facilities describing crocodiles, their current state of conservation, the importance of mangroves and the general environmental situation of Bahía de Banderas.

Thanks to the support of the visitors, who have come to know our project, experience and discover the wonders that wildlife keeps us. The El Cora Crocodile Sanctuary has continued with conservation, rescue of wildlife, as well as program to support research and environmental education events.

All the animals that we have inside the Sanctuary was rescued and due to various situations they could not be reintroduced to their habitats, but we tried to ensure that most of the rescued fauna was reintroduced (e.g. last year we released about 18 rescued crocodiles, 1 raccoon , 5 iguanas, etc.).

Help us survive during the COVID-19 pandemic

Because we do not receive any type of financial support from government agencies, the contribution of visitors is essential for the development of our project. But due to COVID-19, the visitor numbers have been reduced considerably but our commitment to well-being of our animals continues to function.

Really, the above image is the one that can describe the situation. It was that, in those seats, we normally have lots of people waiting for a tour. But, now as we are entering the third week, we don't have any visitors anymore. It was all due to the COVID-19 pandemic fear. Visitors are essential to support our project because their contribution is the only way in which we obtain funds to keep our activities afloat; We do not receive any kind of government support.

The amount we need

Approximately $2,500 is needed to subsist this month. It includes animal food, medicine, gasoline and maintenance; not counting our wages.

For this reason, we need your help and we will greatly appreciate any donation to our cause.
