Helping my community to have sustainable supply of Food

Hello! My name is Liezyl Butiog, I’m from Philippines.

I am a volunteer here about 10 years ago anytime when it is needed when we are experiencing unexpected difficult situation like having typhoon, volcano eruptions & dry seasons. I can't just stay at home while my neighbours are asking for food if I can just help them, especially those with babies need of formula milk and diapers.

I know it is not needed to be rich to help, that's why I decided to try this platform if I can raise funds to help those hungry people around my community.

I also have my own family with 3 children and I can't sleep peacefully at night knowing the others don't have food on their table to provide for their children. We are on extended locked down (until when? no one can tell) so food is a problem.

Majority of members of our community are vegetable farmers and they get paid for every harvest but due to our government is now implementing Enhance Community Quarantine where no one is allowed to go outside unless for buying food and medicine purposes. However, if you belong to this poor place where we only have limited supply it is very hard to keep going day by day.

I would like to help my small community here which have 400 families. 50% of household family members are farmers and the other 50% compose of informal sectors. Only few of them have the capacity to have a good lifestyle but most of the workers stopped their work due to this CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC. We didn't receive any support from our local government units as our place is located on downside of the mountain (Mt. Banahaw, Quezon).

On received funds we are planning to distribute a box contains of 10kg of rice, some canned goods, noodles and some hygiene kits and if lucky I would like to add face mask and alcohol for protection. I am not rich, my husband is just an ordinary secretary and we only have cacao farm, unfortunately I can't give cacao fruit to community as they need rice.
