I need to leave Nicaragua to finish my studies in Chile!

Nice to meet you! My name is Aurora and I'm from Nicaragua!

My country has become dangeous due to a socio-economic crisis that made me stop my studies. Because of that I would like to move to Chile to graduate.

A goverment that is even arresting students

Last April the administration led by President Ortega decreed some reforms in the social security system that increased taxes and decreased benefits.

Then, people from all over the country began many protest against Ortega and the goverment. Protests were followed by police repression that has caused thousand of injured people and even more than 300 deadly victims.

There were reports of media organizations being censored during the protests and many people were arrested and accused of terrorism.

University turned dangerous too. Many students participated in the protests, we're pointed as enemies of the goverment and arrested because of that.

I've participated on that protests so I decided to quit college because of my own security.

I want to finish my studies in Chile

I think that my best option to finish my studies and graduate is to move to Chile.

My dad was born in Chile and I also have some relatives there. I've always liked Chile because of that and I know that it is a safe and beautiful country with high quality education.

My dad left us when I was 3 years old. I didn't have so much contact with him, but I was planning to travel to Chile some time ago.

My dad passed away and I won't ever meet with him again, but in Chile I have other relatives like my aunt, that could help me in case I need it.

Effects of an economic crisis

My mum is a sales promoter and she is the one who is supporting my family daily expenses.

She just get paid when she gets to make a sale, but due to the economic situation it's becoming really hard for her.

I was studying thanks to a scholarship, so we didn't had to pay my tuition fees. Now, to be able to go to Chile we are trying to get a loan but nobody wants to lend us money because of the crisis.

And that's why I'm asking for some help that could allow me to finish my studies in Chile.

Details on needed funds

In order to move to Chile and join the University of Santiago I would need $3,000. I've already saved $400!

Schedule

If everything goes well I will go to Chile next January and I will finish all necessary paperwork to enter the University with my aunt's help.

While studying I would like to find a job that could help me to pay all my daily expenses. After graduating I would like to find a job and save some money, but in the future I would really love to return to my country if the situation gets better. Thank you very much for reading my project!
