Cyclone Harold Visit Vanuatu

On the morning of April 7, Vanuatu’s ever-smiling citizens were awakened by the landfall of Cyclone Harold in the country. Being recorded as one of the strongest storms to ever make landfall in the country, everyone has diverted their attention from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic towards making sure evacuees and affected families are taken care of during this unforeseen disaster. Because of the cyclone’s slow movement, it caused severe flooding in some areas that have roughly affected about 17,000 homes.

Calamity over Coronavirus

Although the country of Vanuatu has no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among its citizens, it still has shaken the whole nation as massive storm hit them during the virus outbreak. Cyclone Harold caused widespread destruction to homes, food, and numerous infrastructures. As of this writing, no details yet have been reported for injured and homeless individuals. However, already thousands of them are in urgent need of shelter, drinking water, food, warm clothing and other necessities.

Amidst this challenging time, we are hoping to extend help to the friendly people of Vanuatu as they have been hospitable to many tourists all over the world when they visit the country.
