BACK TO SCHOOL PROJECTS

Welcome dear reader!

We are happy to introduce you to our Back2School initiative. This initiative is a voluntary and community activity that targets helping the ordinary child in school to have access to school materials in Ghana. This initiative has helped and is still helping over 3000 children with school materials.

About Back2School initiative, Ghana

This initiative was birthed from the Hagar Darkey Ministries (HDM) which is a non-profit organization that seeks to make donations to the underprivileged in the society. It has organized series of these donations which have all been captured in top media outlets in Ghana. Example of such media outlets include Metro Tv, Ghana News Agency and The Finder online. Social issues addressed by Back2School

It is every individual’s right to access education in Ghana especially the young ones. As a measure to make sure this right is enjoyed by all, the government of Ghana has placed in measures such as free primary education for all children. However, this is not adequate since the part of the parent’s duty to ensure this becomes a success is to make sure they provide their children with school materials they need. This has reduced the number of students in schools drastically and quality education the children need is compromised as a result of some parent’s inability to provide these materials.

According to ILO-UNICEF, there are estimated number of 204,000 children living on the streets in Ghana and are being deprived of education. According to a survey organized by GlobalGiving in Ghana, 33% of parents surveyed stated emphatically that their children were not enrolled in school due to lack of funds.

It is as a result of this, that Back2school was birthed to help bridge the gap and make education accessible by all. As the adages go “Children are the future” and “Education is the key”, we need to secure the future of our wards the country and the society at large.

GDP per capita in Ghana is expected to reach $1,980.00 USD by the end of 2022, according to Trading Economics global macro models and analysts expectations.

From https://data.unicef.org › Ghana_Fact_Sheets_Digital, about 71 percent of children complete primary education. However, completion rates decline steeply for lower and upper secondary education, with only 47 percent marking it through.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER:

Hagar Darkey Ministries (HDM) a non-profit organization NPO registered in 2018 was founded by Mrs. Hagar A.O. Darkey. Having lost both parents at a tender age, Hagar had to endure a lot of hardship before going through primary and secondary school education.

I am grateful to my uncle for seeing me through this difficult times of my life, out of this gave birth to this initiative BACK2SCHOOL to help and support the younger once in similar situations in most of the remote parts of Ghana by providing them with learning materials. She is currently a gospel artiste leading Gods people in worship before our maker.

Her social activities and impacts has been recognized by individuals, institutions and communities and above all she is committed to creating a society where every child in any developing country has access to education so as they can actualize their aims and goal.
