Provide Basic Grocery Food to Needy People - COLOMBIA

Dear all

My name is Claudia Cristina Padilla, I am from Bogotá, Colombia, South America. I'm 51 years old. I am a professional in Chemical Engineering and work independently, in the area of water treatment for its reuse and saving it, along with my husband who is a Mechanical Engineer.

Covid-19 in Colombia

At the end of March, the first case of Covid-19 was presented in Colombia and compulsory confinement began for the entire population. In the first days the impact of this measure caused people to stock piling food at home. But as the days went by, people without fixed incomes began to have no food available because they have no money to buy it.

Our government has given aid to people in need. But now the number of people who have no food has increased dramatically and they are currently hungry already.

Food for at least 100 families

My initial idea of helping at least 100 families with basic grocery items arises because it is true that there are people who fall asleep without having eaten a bite. And this should not happen in a modern society like ours.

The objective is now to provide enough food for a family of 4 to 5 people, including sweet food for their children, to provide them with a grocery items consist of the following:

Rice (3 Kg), Sugar (2.5 Kg), Milk (3 bags of 1 liter), Oil (1 liter), Panela (1 pound), Lentils (1 kilo), Chickpeas (1 kilo), Beans (1 kilo) , Pasta (1 pound), Sardines (2 cans), Onion (1 kilo), Tomato (1 kilo), Garlic (0.5 kilo), Bananas (2 kilos), Potatoes (5 kilos), Oranges (2 kilos), Bananas (2 kilos), Papaya (1 unit), Pineapple (1 unit), Lemon (1 kilo), Sweet biscuits (1 package), Bread (1 bag), Eggs (30 units), Cheese (1 pound), Detergent ( 1 kilo), Toilet paper (12 rolls), and Chlorine Cleaner (1 bottle).

The approximate cost of each food package is 25 USD.

The beneficiary

For the first step, we want to reach at least 50 families, with a package at an approximate cost of 25 USD. 25 families in Bogotá and 25 families in the city of Cartagena.

In Bogotá, 15 families who are currently in urgent need of food aid have been identified. They are located in the Juan Rey neighborhood. In Cartagena, 20 families were also identified in the Olaya Herrera sector.
