COVID 19 food Parcels Relief

Greetings everyone

My name is Vusi Mthembu From Haniville, Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. I am 43 years old, founder and Chairperson of Nikithemba NPO. The organisation was registered in 2019, and has Registration Number: 221/836 NPO.

About Nikithemba NPO

Our NPO focuses on community development programmes aimed at identifying opportunities to empower and educate young people through motivational talks, stress and anger management, Life Skills, Emotional intelligence, Character Development Crime Awareness, Decision Making, Anti-bullying and gangsterism, which focuses on behavioral change

The organisation also focuses on developing young people through honing them with relevant skills and linking them to opportunities within the Province of Kwazulu Natal and South Africa.

Hunger and Starvation During the Lock-down

We humble ourselves and request for assistance to be able to buy Food Parcels for our affected beneficiaries who are being impacted by hunger and starvation due to the debilitating impacts of COVID-19. There has been an increased hunger and starvation among the beneficiaries that we serve. The beneficiaries and their families have not been able to cushion themselves against this aforementioned predicament due to the destruction of livelihoods as a result of COVID-19 and lockdown extension.

Most of our beneficiaries have been relying mostly on food supplies donated in schools and also in soup kitchens and this has since been discontinued until further notice. This milieu continues to place the aforementioned beneficiaries at the risks of increased starvation and prolonged hunger. The organization has started the food parcel distribution during the lock down but we cannot reach all our beneficiaries due to lack of funds.

With schools and partial-care facilities for our beneficiaries closed since the 18th of March 2020 and the extension of the lock-down, many of our beneficiaries have not been able to access adequate food.

More so, there has been little reach from other NPOs that are distributing food parcels to effectively track the beneficiaries in the hard-hit areas who are currently facing the food crisis and which has resulted in most of the beneficiaries and their families not getting the food

Assist us to reach as many families as possible.

Our humble request as an organization is for your assistance to raise much needed funds to reach all the families in need of food during the era of Covid 19.
