Indigenous women suffer from food shortages

My dearly readers,

My name is Jose Marcelo Galicia Escobar, I am 29 years old. I am a community communicator. I reside in the municipality of Tacuba, in the department of Ahuachapan, El Salvador, Central America.

The COVID-19 pandemic is seriously affecting the indigenous women, since before this happened, they dedicate themselves to make handicrafts and to sell vegetables and fruits, in order to make their families survive. But due to the confinement order in our town, here in my region, they are now facing alarming food shortages.

For this reason, I took the initiative to raise funds and bring forward the social and economic problems that affecting them to the world.

Food supplies for 200 indigenous women

I am applying for your donation; because there are 200 indigenous women from my community, the municipality of Tacuba in the department of Ahuchapan El Salvador, have no food for their survival, due to the Coronavirus pandemic we are experiencing worldwide.

The funds we need, according to the budget estimation to purchase foods for them was $1,650.00 USD in total. The items or food supplies that we will deliver to those indigenous women are: beans, rice, spaghetti, tomato sauces, soups, oil, sugar and coffee. Those are basic products that they need in their homes to feed themselves and their families. The cost per package is $ 5.00 USD each. With the said amount, we will benefit 110 indigenous women.
