Help my Mama Nimfa, a recent widow & in a coma

Mama Nimfa who is now in need of support for her survival.

She is free from breast cancer for more than 7 years and goes through her everyday routine taking care of our Papa Atong since he’s diabetic, had 3 strokes and a dialysis patient.

Last March 26, 2020 she experienced her usual stomach cramps which persisted for a few days. And on the 4th day she had high fever because of her urinary tract infection (UTI) so I decided to bring her to the emergency hospital and since her illness was not related to the recent pandemic (covid-19), I was hopeful she would be attended to.

Unfortunately, our ordeal started then, we roamed around Metro Manila that day and went to more than 7 private and government hospitals. We waited for hours while my mom was in deep pain and was feeling delirious already but no hospital accepted us until passed 12mid-night. An emergency doctor from San Juan Medical Center had the heart and heard our cry for help letting him know that our Mama has not been out since the lockdown and was suffering in so much pain due to her UTI.

The hospital gave her antibiotics at about 3:00am the next day but tagged her as a PUI (covid-19 person-under-investigation), but she was no longer responsive. Since she was tagged as a PUI, she was left in isolation and I was no longer there to take care of her nor to see how she was doing. This prolonged for 8 days until we got the test result that she was indeed negative of covid-19.

April 9, 2020, I requested her to be transferred and was then confined to Delos Santos Medical Center, where our family doctors are. While Mama Nimfa was trying to get well, our dearest Papa Atong was then rushed to the same hospital’s emergency room where he died of a heart attack the evening of April 12, 2020.

I chose not to break the news to her that Papa has passed so that she can focus on her recovery. But naturally, (in Mama Nimfa’s dazed state) she selflessly asked about Papa’s condition in the ER. I had no choice but to tell her of Papa’s passing. She was half-conscious but understood the situation.

She was monitored and went through several tests while dealing with our loss. She was finally diagnosed with Urosepsis--the strong kind. Her antibiotic costs USD$120.00/tablet and she needed to have these twice a day for 7 days.

She showed positive signs, all her vitals are ok 2 days after taking her antibiotics and she was released from the hospital on April 14, 2020. I was asked by her doctor to make sure she will continue her medications.

Sadly, on April 17, 2020 late evening, she collapsed and our ordeal began anew. She was re-confined on April 18, 2020 and became more delirious as her condition turned for the worst. This time her cry for pain was harder than before. Her doctors decided to test the water in her spine to see if their speculation/prognosis is correct. Apparently, there was another bacteria in her body that was damaging her brain, she was then diagnosed with Streptococcus pneumoniae Haemophilius influenzae, Bacterial Meningitis.

This was probably caught during her ordeal in the government hospital when she was kept in isolation.

Now, Mama Nimfa is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to ensure she has enough medical attention for 7-10 more days or until she recovers. Our family and I are asking for your help to make sure she surpasses this ordeal and hope for her survival.

As of today, her medical expenses and bills increased up to USD$8,300.00. The hospital kept on asking 50% to be paid as it increases every day.

Our family and I are faced with financial responsibilities we never imagined, that is why we are asking for your help to support our dearest Mama Nimfa to keep her in ICU until she recovers. This funding raising platform only allows me to goal for USD1,500.00 despite the amount we are trying to raise. We sincerely asked for your assistance.

We cannot take another loss in the family, please help us cope with the overwhelming financial burden.
