Yemen Flash Flood Relief Fund

Month-Long Rain since March

Yemen has been experiencing heavy rains and flooding since late March 2020, in many locations including Sana’a, Marib, Hadramaut, Raymah, Taizz, Ibb and Aden. And on the night of April 22, heavy rains had fallen non-stop for 24 hours in the country – leaving some dead and still thousands displaced. According to reports, houses, road bridges, water networks, and crops were destroyed, and livestock drowned.

Families in Need

More than 4,600 affected families from seven areas have been accounted for by local organizations in Yemen. They are most in need of food, drinking water, dewatering/desludging, tents, and plastic sheeting.

All of this is an even greater concern given that Yemen is still battling a cholera outbreak. If left without action, stagnant water could cause large number of mosquitoes that may carry infectious diseases and may accelerate infections among communities. Even though Yemen has not yet reported any confirmed cases from the global pandemic of COVID-19, it is likely that the country will be overwhelmed with one disaster after another – only one in three people have access to running water, very few people have soap, and many healthcare facilities are scarce and only are able to provide basic service.

Protect Yemen’s Children

This devastating disaster has left children and families in urgent need of food, water, and medical supplies. If we do not act now and with the outbreak of COVID-19 around the world, not only will the children of the 4,600+ affected families from flooding will be in danger – rather, millions of children in the whole Yemen nation.

Proceeds will be sent to UNICEF who are on the ground at Yemen. With your small donation of $3, one child will be protected from various diseases such as cholera.
