Weekend Rain in South Kivu

Late last week from April 23 to 25, the province of South Kivu in the country of Congo has experienced significant rainfall which led to heavy floods. This had affected densely populated areas with more than 80,000 people and displaced them. Floodwaters damaged more than 15,000 homes and killed more than 25 residents.

New Enemy to Face

On top of having no shelter and scarcity in medical supplies and necessities, the country has yet to brace themselves as COVID-19 is within their horizon. Although no confirmed cases yet, the population has not yet overcome the outbreak from cholera.

Water and sanitation facilities are damaged. Citizens are in dire need of help to secure themselves of shelter, warm food, and drinking water to survive the next weeks.

Airfunding in Action

Airfunding is opening this crowdfunding project for your donations to help the people from South Kivu. With your small donation, we will be able to immediately send the following to each affected household:

• Tarpaulins as temporary shelters

• Sleeping mats

• Kitchen sets

• Buckets

• Mosquito nets

• Packed meals and drinking water

• Clothing

All proceeds will be sent to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to bring these supplies to South Kivu, Congo.
