Birthday Pledge for Saving Street Children of Ghana Slum Areas

Hi, everyone!

I am Anthony Nyame, a 32-year-old young man living in Ghana – West Africa. I am a social worker and I currently live in Kumasi.

I'm a Field Social Worker for Street Connected Children

I work as a social worker for an international non-governmental organization called Chance For Children. It is a Ghana-Switzerland based organization. Please visit their website: www.chance-for-children.org and the Facebook page @chanceforchildrenghana

CFC envisions that, street connected children shall be granted a chance to take their lives into their own hands by experiencing love and security as well as receiving a school education and professional training. The proper term ‘’street connected children’’ refers to children who depend on the streets to live and/or work, either on their own or with other children or family members.

My Birthday Pledge for the Children

As an active field social worker, the least I could do as a whole of my birthday is to reflect on the plight of street connected children during this pandemic. The goal is to respond to this crisis in a way to alleviate the suffering of the street connected children in this trying moment.

As the number of confirmed cases of corona virus keep increasing, street connected children and their families have become more vulnerable. More than ever before, it’s very important that we all come together to assist as many as possible the street connected children during this pandemic.

To celebrate my birthday on 12 June 2020, I want to help 100 street connected children between the ages of 6 to 17 in Accra and Kumasi, the two biggest cities in Ghana where I have worked intensively.

Detail Plan

Outreach: Accra and Kumasi (The 2 major cities in Ghana with the largest slums and deprived communities), 100 children between 6-17 years old.

The fund is intended for the following expenses: 500 face masks, 100 hand sanitizers, veronica buckets, and food items.

A project team is backing me up. I have galvanized support for friends (volunteers) to join me reach out to the children with the provisions of health information, food and sanitary items.
