Story
Fellow AirTripp users, we need your help!
As vice president of the my high school's Japanese Culture Club, the president and I have planned to organise a 5 days 4 nights trip to Tokyo, Japan. This is to appreciate the effort and enthusiasm of our beloved club members for the past 2 years in: helping set up the Japanese festival in our school, Japanese calligraphy competition, and a whole lot of Japanese language games!! The success of this trip will be our token of appreciation.
Here will be the highlights of our trip:
The trip will be during spring in Japan with little rainfall, clear skies and mild temperatures, this is one of the best times to visit Japan as it is time of the famous sakura or cherry blossom season! Language communication shouldn't be an issue as most of us understand fundamental basic Japanese terms.
~Main Locations~
-Shibuya Crossing: Most prominent landmark of the Shibuya and the most filmed spot in the area.
-Hachiko Statue: Hachiko is the name of an admired Akita breed dog in Japanese culture back in the 30s who exemplified superb loyalty to his owner even after his owner’s death. Up to this day, Hachiko has been remembered for these amazing traits and that’s why this bronze statue of him that was put up in 1934 in front of Shibuya Station remains to be a well-revered point in Japan.
-Omotesando: If Paris has Champs-Elysees, Japan has Omotesando.
-Meiji Shrine: Dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji (1st emperor of Japan) and Empress Shoken, the vast Meiji Shrine is a great tranquil ‘escape’ from the hectic Harajuku.
-Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku: This is a multi-story shopping center that recently became even more popular because of its kaleidoscope-like entrance that’s made of dozens of tilted mirrors.
-Shinjuku Gyoen: Traditional Japanese landscape gardens! Best visited during sakura!
-Samurai Museum: As a Japanophile, I have also been enchanted by the culture and history of the samurai (or bushi) — Japan’s notable military warriors.
-Golden Gai: With over 200 tiny bars and eateries, it can undoubtedly provide us a glimpse of Tokyo’s past.
-Hakone: (1hr from Tokyo) This is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and it is famous not only for its natural beauty and lake views of Mt. Fuji, but also for its hot springs (onsen).
~Fun~
-Dress up in Kimono: Japan’s elegant traditional wear!
-Indulge in Ichiran Ramen: A famous ramen (noodle soup dish) place that gained popularity worldwide because of its solo booth style of dining.
-Japanese Tea Ceremony: Highly influenced by the principles of Zen Buddhism and a well-respected hobby, the Japanese Tea Ceremony (also known as the ‘Way of the Tea’) is a traditional cultural activity that is elaborate and refined, and in which matcha or powdered green tea is prepared and drunk by a host.
-Arcades: (in Taito Station)
We hope to at least raise funds that can cover plane tickets for 5 people and afford accommodation. If the we raise more than target fund, we'll add more days and activities to the trip.
Do provide advices and recommendations when you donate on what and where else we should visit during the very anticipated Japan trip!!
