Baju Langkawi is a batik men's shirt with an asian collar.
A fusion of a collar used by most of the ethnicities in Malaysia (Malay collar, Chinese 'Mandarin collar', Indian 'nehru collar'), together with batik fabric. The batik fabric is a cultural heritage art-form of several communities in Malaysia and its neighbours. In Malaysia, it has been lost from mainstream visibility over the last two generations.
Baju Langkawi is a project I'm initiating, to kickstart shirt-makers and shirt-buyers into re-booting batik fabric application in our daily lives, by making it part of daily wear at mass-market affordability level. Perhaps it could also take on the world, and be the "Asian shirt" like how the Hawaii shirt is the "Beach themed shirt" even if one has never been to Hawaii.
For every $20 contributed, I will send you one shirt from this upcoming batch (free postage/delivery). Print patterns are one-off and random. Please let me know the following:
1. size (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL)
2. delivery/postal address
I would also be happy if you could use the [Help by sharing] button to share about my project!
Thank you :)
