I am Aubrey, an 18 years old student from East Malaysia. The western coast of my homeland has been desperately affected by floods and landslides caused by heavy rain. 33 districts in eight states across Peninsular Malaysia (Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang) are affected.
This tragedy has caused a huge impact towards the people of my country, losing their loved ones and their homes. Not to mention, a not so merry Christmas. Temporary evacuation centers have been opened in six states of Malaysia (Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang, Kelantan, and Terengganu), involving over 11000+ victims.
Seeing the people of my country suffer, I decided to start this project. All funds will be donated to verified fundraisers in Malaysia in aid of the flood victims (https://vulcanpost.com/772756/malaysia-flood-donate-charities-list/amp/). As a student, this is the least I can do to build awareness about this tragedy happening in my country. I sincerely appreciate this platform to reach people from all around the world, giving help and hope to create a better world.
